P90X update - week 4

So I was practically forced into doing the P90X program to "support" Kyle - reluctant as I was I cannot believe the results after just 3 full weeks of eating according to the program and the daily workouts! I've lost about 5 pounds - which honestly is alot for my body- but pretty much I feel like I've just lost 5 pounds of pure fat! We all probably know what our operating body weight is- I've been at mine for years, the weight in which I can eat/drink whatever I want (within limits) and moderately work out and still maintain. My body looks different and feels different. I've complained about the eating but really you get used to it. This is our recovery week - alot of yoga and core exercises - and the following week the diet plan changes up a bit. A little less protein for me and one extra carb (yay) a day. Once the 90 days are over, I do think that I will keep some of the diet changes for the long term. I did really eat more carbs than I needed to and could use more protein in my daily diet.

On another note, Jackson and I just returned from a sunny week on Cumberland Island with the McArthur clan. We got to spend quality time with my Dad's side of the family - but most importantly with my nephew Daniel (it was his first beach trip). Summer is in full swing here with pool visits, keeping cool and keeping busy. Jackson had his first private swim lesson today and it was a HUGE success! Amazing what one on one attention can do for some kids. Caroline just spent our Cumberland week with Mimi where she slept every night in a big girl bed. So now, of course, she wants her big girl bed. I'm meeting with Bobbi and Dana at precious cargo tomorrow to start working on the transformation. She is inheriting my old bed that I got when I was 2 years old. It's in need of some sprucing up so that's on the to-do list as well. Who said summer was a time to slow down? We are busier than ever it seems!

Chips, Salsa & a Margarita

It's all I want right now. Let's just say that I am craving some serious carbs and sugar! What I would give for a lazy afternoon watching the kids play in the back with a margarita in hand. But alas, I can't do it because I am committed to this P90X workout plan. I am day 11 into my first 30 days which is the hardest part. The next 30 days I will get a little more carbs so maybe I can save up for that mexican fix.

I've had a great week with Caroline spending our time doing girl things. Jackson is at Vacation Bible School in Dublin wih Mom this week. We pack up and head down there tomorrow. Then on Saturday, Caroline is staying with Mom (Mimi) and I'm taking Jackson down to Cumberland Island for a week. So after my week of princess tea parties I will be getting back to boy basics with insect hunting and fishing!

Summer of P90X

Summer is officially here and things are going really well! I honestly was dreading the long summer days of not knowing how to keep everyone occupied but so far we've been busier than ever. We spent all of last week down near Seaside, FL in the resort area known as Watercolor. It was so nice just to get away and of course always great to come home too. Jackson spent his mornings this week at art camp at his preschool which gave Caroline and I some really good quality time together. We spent most afternoons at the pool, napped and then played outside until bedtime.

But the lazy days of summer will not be happening for Kyle and myself. We started the P90X workout program this past Monday and it has been challenging. Every day we get up around 6:30 and do our workout- which is a different DVD every day. It keeps it interesting and challenging. But really the hardest part is the nutrition side to the program. The first 30 days is the "fat shredder" month - which means ALOT of protein and a little of everything else. For a girl who doesn't eat a ton of meat, this has been a struggle. I can honestly say though after 5 days I am getting used to the changes to my diet. The following 30 days it will get better (little less protein, adding in more carbs) and then the last 30 days we will be eating normally again (because the food structure is pretty much how we already ate). So, I'll have to update the blog with our progress. I'm not trying to lose weight, maybe 5 pounds, but adding lean muscle. I will say though, it's really hard not to sneak a cookie here and there while feeding the kids!! And we haven't been drinking alcohol during this - which isn't that big of a deal because we don't drink alot but I'm about to be on a McArthur family beach vacation where I will be watching everyone drink beer all day! I may have to take some low carb beer along for a splurge...don't tell Kyle!

Happy 60th Papa!

We've been trying to email a special video to Kyle's Dad to wish him a happy 60th birthday but neither of our email accounts will hold the file. So I'm now uploading it to the blog. We (Kyle, myself and the kids) are down at Watercolor- Kyle's parents are in Tahiti and only have internet access.

Happy Birthday Papa! Hope you are having the most special birthday! :) Wish you were here or better yet, we wish we were there!
