Summer is almost over (well we will still have plenty of warm days here in Georgia, but school starts back for us next week so...) and I wanted to share a few of my favorite things from this summer.
First, I found this face sunscreen that I absolutely love. It's by Coppertone - called NutraShield 70+ with Dual Defense. Claims to have sun protection and nourishing antioxidants to promote natural skin repair. I am a huge proponant of sunscreen, especially a high SPF on the face. With two kids we had alot of pool days, afternoons at the baseball field and being outside in general so a good sunscreen was needed. Who wants to look older than they are? I'm just hopeful to look like my current age (ok, maybe a little tiny bit younger).
Second, I will admit that I do wear a much lower SPF on my body, therefore my face stays protected while I get some color on my body. So after I shower off from the pool, I apply Clarins liquid bronze self tanning on my face. I cannot say enough about this product! I have tried many many self tanners over the years and my main complaint has been the awful stinky smell. This Clarins product is always top in the magazines but I never bought it because of the price tag (around $35). Well, I caved and got it this spring. It's just awesome. Your skin absorbs it almost immediately and there is almost no smell at all. You can tell from the photo that it doesn't take much and I have plenty left for the rest of this year and next summer too (if it is still good, which I hope that it is)! Love it.
Third, I opted out of my tomato bed garden (went for a cherry tomato container on the deck) and instead planted two zinna beds. I planted one in two different locations to test where they would grow best. They both produced plenty of flowers but one of them definately did better than the other. They have provided me with fresh cut flowers all summer long. Little pops of color spread through the house makes for a happy house! I will be definately have a little cutting garden from now on every summer. FYI - The photo does not do complete justice - I had just cut flowers a couple of days ago.
Fourth, P90X! I may have complained but really the bottom line is this program delivers results. We all have our problem areas - all of us- mine has always been my tummy and muffin top around the back of my hips. This program really took alot of that away and then some. I would highly recommend it to anyone in relatively good shape. We are 3 weeks from being done and have decided to start it up again next February to be ready for next summer.
That's it! Just a few things that made my life a little bit happier, brighter, better this summer. And no, I'm not trying to be like Oprah.
